We form our residential seamless gutters from .032 Ply Gem/Mastic Performance Metals aluminum sourced through Marsh Building Products. We do not drop to thinner builder-grade coil just to make the material number smaller.

Hidden Hangers About 16 Inches On Center

Ohio ice and snow load matters. Our normal hanger spacing is tighter than the wide spacing you see on many installations, with additional support near corners and other high-stress areas.

Long Structural Fasteners Into Solid Wood

A hanger is only as strong as what the screw reaches. We use long structural fasteners intended to reach solid roof-edge framing where the construction allows.

Hand-Cut Corners When the House Allows It

On appropriate new work, we prefer a hand-cut lapped corner made from the same gutter material as the run. We use a different method when the actual geometry makes that the better joint.

Fascia & Drip Edge Are Part of the Inspection

Soft fascia, loose material, bad previous repairs, or inadequate drip-edge conditions are shown to you rather than covered up.

We Follow the Water Past the Downspout

If an existing buried drain is restricted or failed, we address that before connecting a brand-new gutter system into a problem you cannot see from the ground.

5-Inch or 6-Inch? We Prefer Capacity When the House Can Use It

Our standard pairing is 5-inch gutter with 2x3 downspouts or 6-inch gutter with 3x4 downspouts. We often recommend 6-inch because extra capacity and a larger outlet path can be valuable on Ohio homes, but the roof, valleys, layout and discharge still decide the system.

This is educational, not remote engineering. Overflow by itself does not prove the gutter is undersized.

The detail most bids never explain

Corners: The Part Nobody Asks About

When I am called to diagnose a leaking gutter system, the failure is usually at a corner, outlet or end cap — not in the middle of a seamless run. “Seamless” means the long run is one continuous piece of aluminum. It does not mean the corners have no joint.

The joint has to be cut accurately, supported correctly, mechanically fastened, and sealed without depending on a visible glob of caulk to hold metal together.

Our preferred new-work method: a hand-cut, lapped corner made from the same gutter material as the run when the geometry allows it. Factory corners still have a place when the condition calls for them.

Both runs are cut to meet the actual corner, then lapped so the metal itself overlaps. Sealant sits between the layers and rivets compress the joint. We also pay attention to the front bead so the finished line reads cleanly from the ground.

We use aluminum blind rivets through the overlapping layers rather than screws as the primary seam fastener. The fastener carries the joint; the sealant carries the water. Hanger support is also placed close to the corner.

We use Geocel 2320, a tripolymer gutter and narrow-seam sealant made for metal gutter applications. Surfaces are cleaned and dry before sealing, and the product is bedded into the lap.

No. Hand-cut miters are our preference on appropriate new work, but retrofit conditions, unusual angles or badly out-of-square fascia can call for a different approach. The goal is a clean, supported, serviceable joint.

Before New Gutters Go Up, We Look at What Is Under Them

A beautiful gutter attached to soft wood or positioned wrong at the roof edge is still a bad installation.

Fascia Inspection & Localized Repair

After removal, we inspect the run for softness, loose sections, missing material and poor previous repairs. If rotten wood is exposed, we stop and show the homeowner before proceeding.

For reasonable localized fascia damage discovered during gutter replacement, we generally include the repair labor within the project and charge primarily for necessary materials. Larger or structural repairs are discussed and approved before work continues.

Replacement wood is primed. If a matching finish coat is desired, matching paint should be available or coordinated ahead of time so production does not stop unnecessarily.

Drip Edge & Roof-Edge Relationship

We inspect the existing roof edge and set the gutter so the drip edge and gutter work together. Water should enter the trough, not track behind it and soak the fascia.

If the existing drip edge, apron or roof-edge condition is inadequate, we bring it to the homeowner instead of hiding it. The correction is handled or coordinated based on the actual condition.

We also flag roofing details outside the gutter scope when we see them because a gutter should never be sold as the cure for a roofing problem.

We Read the Roof Before We Read the Fascia Line

Valleys, steep pitches, upper roofs and concentrated roof intersections tell us where the system will be tested hardest.

Valleys

A valley concentrates runoff from more than one roof plane into a small part of the gutter. That heavily influences outlet placement. If needed, we include a splash guard as part of the installation rather than treating it as a surprise add-on.

Steep Roofs

Steeper roofs move water faster. Gutter height and roof-edge position matter because water can overshoot a trough that is not positioned correctly.

Upper & Lower Roofs

We do not casually dump an upper downspout onto a lower roof and overload the lower gutter. The route is planned as part of the system.

Large Roof Intersections

Multiple planes converging into one short run make gutter size, outlet size, downspout capacity and number of exits work together.

Oversized Outlets & Extra Downspouts

Sometimes the best improvement is getting water out of the trough faster. We use larger outlets or additional downspouts where the layout justifies them.

Splash Guards, When They Earn Their Place

We use splash guards where concentrated water or roof geometry calls for them, but outlet placement and capacity come first.

Downspouts Go Where the Water Needs Them — Without Making the House Look Like an Afterthought

Placement follows roof load, low points, valleys, available discharge and finished appearance. We discuss locations before permanent holes and fasteners are placed.

Function First

Appearance Still Matters

  • Downspouts are aligned with trim, corners and existing vertical lines when practical
  • Elbows are selected to keep pipe tight to the structure
  • Straps are spaced uniformly and aligned cleanly
  • Locations are discussed before drilling because moving a downspout later means patching the original installation
Where the gutter job stops being a gutter job

We Do Not Connect New Gutters Into a Buried Drain We Have Not Checked

Underground lines fail quietly. Roots, crushed pipe, silt, poor transitions and buried outlets can leave a line accepting little or no water while everything above ground looks new.

Before reconnecting an existing buried line, we force water through it where accessible and attempt to locate the outlet so we can judge whether the path is actually moving water. If restricted, we have clearing options including jetting and mechanical equipment. If failed, we address that rather than feeding a brand-new roof system into it.

That is where our gutter work and our underground downspout and yard drainage work overlap. The gutter is the collection end. Where the water safely ends up is the actual goal.

What We Will Not Do

Most of the difference between a good gutter job and a rushed one is invisible from the driveway. One useful way to judge an installer is by the shortcuts they refuse to take.

We Will Not Hang New Gutter on Bad Wood

If fascia is soft, loose or rotten, we show it to you and address the support before covering it.

We Will Not Pair 6-Inch Gutter With 2x3 Downspouts

The larger trough deserves the larger exit path. Our standard 6-inch system is paired with 3x4 downspouts.

We Will Not Feed a Known Failed Underground Line

If an existing buried drain cannot move water properly, that condition is addressed before connection.

We Will Not Stretch Hanger Spacing to Save Hardware

Our normal hidden-hanger spacing is approximately 16 inches on center, with tighter support around high-stress details.

We Will Not Rely on Generic Silicone for Gutter Joints

We use Geocel 2320 gutter and narrow-seam sealant and build the joint mechanically rather than treating sealant as structure.

We Will Not Sell Gutters to Hide a Roofing Problem

If the problem is at the roof edge, flashing, wall intersection or elsewhere outside the gutter itself, we tell you.

Property Protection, Cleanup & Owner Quality Control

The last hour matters too. Old metal, sharp cutoffs, dropped screws and damaged landscaping can ruin an otherwise good installation.

Protect the Property

Siding, windows, roof edges, landscaping, flowers and work areas are treated carefully.

Remove the Old System Properly

Old spikes, screws and hardware are removed rather than casually broken off. Abandoned penetrations are addressed where appropriate and old gutter material is hauled away.

Clean the Work Area

Aluminum cutoffs and debris are visually collected and the property receives a magnetic sweep for steel screws, nails and other ferrous fasteners.

Owner Inspection

Casey personally inspects finished work with the lead installer, including corners, end caps, outlets, hangers, downspouts and finished appearance.

Final Walkaround

The property is walked again after installation, with attention to driveways, landscaping and areas below the work.

You receive before-and-after or completion photos so you can see finished details that are difficult to inspect from the ground.

One-Year CleanFlow Workmanship Warranty

Our workmanship warranty covers the installation itself, including issues such as loose attachments, separation at installed joints, improper fastening and installation-caused leaks. Manufacturer material coverage is separate.

The written agreement defines the warranty terms and normal exclusions for conditions outside the installation.

No. We like the added capacity of a properly designed 6-inch system, but a straightforward roofline can still be well served by 5-inch gutters. We look at roof area, pitch, valleys, outlet placement, existing overflow and discharge before recommending the upgrade.

We stop and show you before covering it. For reasonable localized fascia damage, we generally include repair labor and charge primarily for necessary materials. Larger or structural repairs are discussed and approved.

Yes, when those buried lines are functioning properly. We check existing underground drainage before reconnecting. If a line is clogged or compromised, we address the drainage condition first.
